Málaga used to be the airport you passed through on the way to the beach. Now it's a destination in its own right, with a Moorish fortress, the Picasso Museum and a buzzing old town.
The Costa del Sol stretches either side: Torremolinos and Benalmádena for classic beach holidays, Marbella for glamour, and Nerja to the east for cliffs and coves.
