Questions people ask

How do I get a GHIC?
Apply free on the NHS website. Beware of sites that charge a fee for the same application.
Is my old EHIC still valid?
Yes, until the expiry date printed on it. Then replace it with a GHIC.
Do I still need travel insurance?
Yes. The GHIC doesn't cover private treatment, repatriation or lost belongings, which is why the FCDO advises getting both.
